LESSON 8

QUESTIONS PRIOR TO PRESENTING “THE PLAN”

2 Peter 3:9–     “The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.”

The inquiries at this point have a two-fold purpose:

1.         You are attempting to determine if the person is certain that they are a Christian and are on their way to Heaven.

2.         You are attempting to have the individual reveal exactly what they are trusting in that enables them to go to Heaven.

The following questions are appropriate in order to obtain the above information.

A.        1.         Mrs. Monroe, do you know if you die today that you would go to Heaven?

            2.         Mrs. Monroe, are you 100% sure that you will go to Heaven when you die?

B.        1.         Mrs. Monroe, in your opinion, what would a person have to do in order to go to Heaven?

            2.         Mrs. Monroe, what do you think God would require in order for a person to go to Heaven?

If the individual seems bewildered or confused at this point, carefully assist with common opinion answers such as:

            a.         Live a good life.

            b.         Being baptized.

            c.         Church attendance.

*Physical or mental notes can be made so that the Soul-winner realizes fully what the individual is trusting in for salvation. This information will be important later when the Scriptural truth of God’s gift becomes evident.
