LESSON 5

APPROACHING AND AT THE DOOR

Acts 20:20–“. . .and have taught you publickly, and from house to house,”

Realizing the importance of a “good first impression” and that many will notice two, nicely dressed adults walking the sidewalks or streets of their neighborhood, long before we can actually speak to them, the following considerations are made:

1.         Park in an appropriate place.

2.         Walk briskly and purposefully between the individual calls or houses.

3.         Decide who will be the silent partner before leaving the car.

4.         Eliminate loud talking, excessive laughter, and/or inappropriate antics that might draw unnecessary attention or offend.

5.         Knock authoritatively but not destructively.

6.         The individual talking should stand at the opening of the door; the silent partner by the hinged side of the door.

7.         Speak clearly and confidently (with tract in hand) introducing:

            a.         Yourself.

            b.         Your Partner.

            c.         Where you are from.

            d.         Why you are there.

            e.         Get them to identify themselves.

8.         Begin to use their name in the conversation.
