INTRODUCTION

Review the points from last week:

I.         IT CONTAINS ALL A PERSON MUST DO IN ORDER TO BE CONDEMNED.

What does a person have to do to be condemned?                              (John 3:18)

II.        IT CONTAINS ALL THE WRONG THINGS THAT JESUS DID.

What did Jesus ever do wrong? (1 Peter 2:22–“Who did no sin”. In fact, He not only has never done anything wrong, the Bible says that He does all things well. (Mark 7:37)

III.       IT CONTAINS ALL A PERSON CAN DO TO GET TO HEAVEN APART FROM THE GOSPEL OF JESUS CHRIST. What can you do to get to heaven apart from the gospel of Jesus Christ? (John 14:6; Acts 4:12)

IV.      IT CONTAINS ALL THE WAYS WE CAN PLEASE GOD APART FROM FAITH.

What can you do to please God apart from faith? (Hebrews 11:6)

This week's message:

V.        IT CONTAINS ALL WE HAVE ATTAINED IN THIS LIFE APART FROM GOD.

What have we attained in this life apart from God?

John 3:27–“A man can receive nothing, except it be given him from heaven.”

Daniel 4:30-32–“The king spake, and said, Is not this great Babylon, that I have built for the house of the kingdom by the might of my power, and for the honour of my majesty? While the word was in the king’s mouth, there fell a voice from heaven, saying, O king Nebuchadnezzar, to thee it is spoken; The kingdom is departed from thee. And they shall drive thee from men, and thy dwelling shall be with the beasts of the field: they shall make thee to eat grass as oxen, and seven times shall pass over thee, until thou know that the most High ruleth in the kingdom of men, and giveth it to whomsoever he will.”

VI.      IT CONTAINS ALL THAT WE CAN ACCOMPLISH APART FROM CHRIST.

What can we accomplish apart from Christ?

John 15:4-5--“Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in me. I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing.”

            A.        God Gives Us Our Life.

                        1.         God Makes Our Heart Beat.

                        2.         God Lets Us Breathe.

                        3.         God Makes Our Digestive System work.

                        4.         Without God You Wouldn’t Look Like You Do.

            B.        God Gives Us Our Intellect.

Without God we’d be dumber than a box of rocks!

Without God we’d be dumber than a coal bucket!

            C.        God Gives Us Our Abilities.

What is it that you like to do?

Without God we couldn’t do any of the things we enjoy doing!

            D.        God Gives Us Our Strength.

Without God we couldn’t even pick up a feather.

Without God we couldn’t couldn’t have come to Church this morning

Philippians 4:13–“I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.”

VII.     IT CONTAINS EVERYTHING THAT WE WILL TAKE WITH US WHEN WE DIE.

What are we going to take with us when we die?

Job 1:21–“Naked came I out of my mother’s womb, and naked shall I return thither: the LORD gave, and the LORD hath taken away; blessed be the name of the LORD.”

Genesis 3:19–“In the sweat of thy face shalt thou eat bread, till thou return unto the ground; for out of it wast thou taken: for dust thou art, and unto dust shalt thou return.”

1 Timothy 6:7–“For we brought nothing into this world, and it is certain we can carry nothing out.”

Psalm 49:17-18–“Be not thou afraid when one is made rich, when the glory of his house is increased; For when he dieth he shall carry nothing away: his glory shall not descend after him.”

Ecclesiastes 5:15–“As he came forth of his mother’s womb, naked shall he return to go as he came, and shall take nothing of his labour, which he may carry away in his hand.”

Matthew 6:19-21–“Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal: But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal: For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.”

VIII.   IT CONTAINS EVERYTHING WE PROFIT BY DOING SOMETHING APART FROM THE LOVE OF CHRIST. (1 Corinthians 13:1-3)

What do we profit by doing something apart from the love of Christ?

            Our motives do matter!

IX.      IT CONTAINS ALL THAT A CHRISTIAN HAS TO DO TO BECOME A BACKSLIDER.

What does a Christian have to do in order to become a backslider?

Ephesians 2:10–“For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.”

Romans 8:29–“For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son,”

James 4:17–“Therefore to him that knoweth to do good, and doeth it not, to him it is sin.”

X.        IT CONTAINS WHAT WE CAN DO TO LOSE OUR SALVATION.

What can we do to lose our salvation?

John 6:37-40–“All that the Father giveth me shall come to me; and him that cometh to me I will in no wise cast out. 38For I came down from heaven, not to do mine own will, but the will of him that sent me. 39And this is the Father’s will which hath sent me, that of all which he hath given me I should lose nothing, but should raise it up again at the last day. 40And this is the will of him that sent me, that every one which seeth the Son, and believeth on him, may have everlasting life: and I will raise him up at the last day.”

John 10:27-29–“My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me: 28And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand. 29My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father’s hand.”

Romans 8:1–“There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus”

Romans 8:35-39–Nothing shall separate us from the love of God

Does that mean we can live any way that we please after we are saved? No!

God loves us too much to let us get by with our sin.

XI.      IT CONTAINS EVERYTHING THAT WE AS CHRISTIANS SHOULD WORRY ABOUT.

            What should Christians worry about?

Philippians 4:6-7--“Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.”

            Matthew 6:25-34

XII.     IT CONTAINS EVERYTHING THAT WE SHOULD ALLOW TO KEEP US FROM COMING TO CHRIST.

What could be more important than trusting the Lord for salvation?

XIII.   IT CONTAINS EVERYTHING THAT A CHRISTIAN SHOULD ALLOW TO KEEP THEM FROM GETTING RIGHT WITH GOD.

What could be more important to a Christian than getting right with God?
