SOUNDING OUT THE TRUMPET
PART 2--THE DANGER OF THE WRONG MESSAGE BEING SOUNDED
1 CORINTHIANS 14:6-11 (Text Vs. 8)
Introduction
In our first message on this subject we looked at “The Danger Of The Trumpet Not Being Sounded.” We looked at:
WHY THE TRUMPET MIGHT NOT BE SOUNDED.
(Deceived, Dim-Sighted, Dim-Witted, Drowsy or Daydreaming, Dawdler, Distracted, Disabled.)
WHAT HAPPENS WHEN THE TRUMPET IS NOT SOUNDED. (Ezekiel 33:6)
A. The People Who Need Warning Are Not Warned!
1. Lost Sinners Are Not Warned To Flee From The Wrath To Come!
2. Saved Sinners Are Not Directed To Live For The Lord!
B. The People Who Need Warning Die In Their Iniquity!
C. The Watchman Bears Responsibility Before God!
Today I want us to see THERE IS THE DANGER OF THE WRONG MESSAGE BEING SOUNDED.
I. MANY WRONG MESSAGES ARE BEING SOUNDED TO THE LOST.
Some of these messages are being trumpeted by the world, while others are being trumpeted by false teachers.
Some examples of wrong messages being trumpeted:
A. There Is No God!
Psalms 14:1–“The fool hath said in his heart, There is no God. They are corrupt, they have done abominable works, there is none that doeth good.”
Psalms 19:1– “The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament sheweth his handywork.”
B. We’re All God’s Children!
Galatians 3:26–“For ye are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus.”
1 John 3:10–“In this the children of God are manifest, and the children of the devil: whosoever doeth not righteousness is not of God, neither he that loveth not his brother.”
John 3:3–“Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.”
C. There Is No Sin Problem!
Man is basically good. All men have some good in them.
Romans 3:10-11–“10 As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one: 11 There is none that understandeth, there is none that seeketh after God.”
Romans 3:23–“For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;”
Isaiah 64:6–“But we are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags; and we all do fade as a leaf; and our iniquities, like the wind, have taken us away.”
D. There Is No Condemnation!
Romans 6:23–“For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.”
John 3:18–“. . .he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.”
Revelation 20:15–“And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.”
E. Man Is His Own Saviour.
Psalms 146:3–“Put not your trust in princes, nor in the son of man, in whom there is no help.”
F. All Roads Lead To Heaven.
“Just pick any religion and be sincere.” Or,
“You don’t even have to be religious at all, just live a good moral life.”
Proverbs 16:25–“There is a way that seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death.”
Matthew 7:13-14–“Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat: 14 Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.”
G. Just Keep The Law!
Romans 3:19-20–“Now we know that what things soever the law saith, it saith to them who are under the law: that every mouth may be stopped, and all the world may become guilty before God. 20 Therefore by the deeds of the law there shall no flesh be justified in his sight: for by the law is the knowledge of sin.”
James 2:10–“For whosoever shall keep the whole law, and yet offend in one point, he is guilty of all.”
H. Salvation Is By Works Or By Faith Plus Works Or Something Else.
Some want to add baptism or sacraments.
Ephesians 2:8-9–“For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: 9 Not of works, lest any man should boast.”
II. MANY WRONG MESSAGES ARE BEING SOUNDED TO THE SAINTS.
A. You Can Live Any Lifestyle You Choose, God Still Accepts You.
Preaching against sin is becoming harder and harder to find because many preachers are feeling the pressure when folks leave the Church when they preach against sin.
B. Separation Standards Aren’t Important.
2 Corinthians 6:17–“Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you.”
Hebrews 7:26–“For such an high priest became us, who is holy, harmless, undefiled, separate from sinners, and made higher than the heavens.”
III. THE DANGERS OF FALSE TEACHING.
A. Salvation Depends On Sound Doctrine!
(Example: Highway safety depends on signs being correct!)
Romans 6:17–“But God be thanked, that ye were the servants of sin, but ye have obeyed from the heart that form of doctrine which was delivered you.”
1 Corinthians 15:1-4; Colossians 1:21-23; 2 Thessalonians 2:13-15
2 John 9–“Whosoever transgresseth, and abideth not in the doctrine of Christ, hath not God. He that abideth in the doctrine of Christ, he hath both the Father and the Son.”
B. Right Living Depends On Right Doctrine!
1 Corinthians 15:33–“Be not deceived: evil communications corrupt good manners.”
2 Timothy 3:16-17–“All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:
17 That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works.”
Conclusion
What messages are you listening to? Are you listening to the right messages?
What message are you sending with your lips?
What message are you sending with your life?
We must sound out the message! But we need to make sure it is the right message!
