OH COME LET US ADORE HIM!
Matthew 2:2
INTRODUCTION
The word, “adore,” means to worship, to admire, and to be extremely fond of.
The wise men sought Jesus out to worship Him! Wise men still seek Him to worship Him!
Let us adore the Lord Jesus Christ not only at Christmas and not only at church, but adore Him each and every day wherever we are and whatever the circumstance.
I. LET US ADORE HIM RIGHTLY. (JOHN 4:19-24)
A. Adore Him Not Just Because He Was The Babe In The Manger, But Because He Is God In
The Flesh.
John 1:14–“And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.”
B. Adore Him Not Just Because He Was A Good Man, But Because He Is The God-Man.
Matthew 1:23–“Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us.”
Isaiah 9:6–“For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.”
C. Adore Him Not Just Because He Was A Good Teacher, But Because He Is The Way, The Truth, And The Life.
John 14:6–“Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.”
II. LET US ADORE HIM REPEATEDLY. (REVELATION 2:4)
A. As We Live In His World, We Should Adore Him Daily.
Psalm 118:24–“This is the day which the LORD hath made; we will rejoice and be glad in it.”
Psalm 68:19–"Blessed be the Lord, who daily loadeth us with benefits, even the God of our salvation. Selah."
B. As We Labor In His Field, We Should Adore Him Daily. (1 Cor 3:5-10)
C. As We Look For His Return, We Should Adore Him Daily.
(Titus 2:11-13; 1 John 3:2-3.)
III. LET US ADORE HIM REVERENTLY. (MATTHEW 12:6)
A. Let Us Give Him Preeminence.
Colossians 1:18–“8And he is the head of the body, the church: who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead; that in all things he might have the preeminence.
“Preeminence”-- Means “to be first in rank or influence.”
1. He Is To Be First In Rank--He is LORD.
2. He Is To Be First In Influence--He is LORD.
(Matthew 6:33) "But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you."
B. Let Us Give Him Praise.
(Hebrews 13:15) "By him therefore let us offer the sacrifice of praise to God continually, that is, the fruit
of our lips giving thanks to his name."
(Psalm 50:23) "Whoso offereth praise glorifieth me. . .”
(Psalm 69:30) "I will praise the name of God with a song, and will magnify him with thanksgiving."
(Psalm 107:21-22) "Oh that men would praise the LORD for his goodness, and for his wonderful works to the children of men! {22} And let them sacrifice the sacrifices of thanksgiving, and declare his works with rejoicing."
IV. LET US ADORE HIM RESPONSIVELY. (1 JOHN 4:9-11, ROMANS 12:1-2)
(Psalm 51:17) "The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit: a broken and a contrite heart, O God, thou wilt not despise."
A. By Loving God And One Another. (Mark 12:28-34)
B. By Living By His Commandments. (John 14:21; 15:14)
C. By Lifting Our Cross And Following Him. (Mark 8:34-35)
CONCLUSION
Will you adore Him in your life? Rightly? Repeatedly? Reverently? Responsively?
